America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) President and CEO Karen Ignagni
released the following statement today in reaction to the announcement by CMS
that Medicare Part D premiums in 2013 will remain steady for the third straight
year:
“Medicare
beneficiaries continue to have access to high quality, affordable prescription
drug coverage as a result of Medicare drug plans’ efforts to encourage the use
of more affordable generic drugs and promote the most effective treatments for
patients with chronic illness. Taxpayers are also saving billions of dollars as
the total cost of the program continues to be far below original projections.”
